Mini Cocktail Meat Balls

These cocktail meatballs with their extraordinary sauce are just great. Not only you can serve them at parties for your friends but they can be also served for lunch or dinner over rice and spaghetti or as a sandwich for your children after school. Enjoy!

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup semolina
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • salt
  • pepper

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • a clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balzamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar/honey/plum marmalade
  • blackpepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons sherry

How To make The Sauce:

Make the sauce by combining all the ingredients except sherry in a medium sauce pan, over slow heat. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add sherry. Adjust the seasoning, to taste.

For frying:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil

How To:

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the meatballsmix well using your hands. Form into individual meatballs, about the size of a walnut.

In a large skillet, heat the oil and the butter over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and fry, turning until brown on all sides. Transfer to a bowl or a fondue set. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and serve immediately.
